Culture Ministry demands Iraqi archives from America

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The culture under-secretary Tahir al-Hmoud called on the U.S.Administration to hand over the Iraqi national archives, which it has held 2003. In a statement, received by IraqiNews.com, Hmoud added that the ministry made diplomatic contacts during the last few months via the Iraqi Foreign Ministry to regain the national archives, according to the agreement reached last year in Washington. He confirmed that the national archives are one of sovereignty aspects of the country, which should be respected by the United States. Hmoud visited the U.S.in May 2010 and held a series of meetings with responsible officials at the Pentagon and foreign ministry, where he got promises to regain all the Iraqi documents, including the Jewish archives.
