Decline of Iranian currency affected tourism in Kerbela

KARBALA / IraqiNews.com: The Chairman of the Economic Commission in Karbala’s Provincial Council confirmed that the decline of the Iranian currency affected tourism business in the city. Karbala is the most prominent city that attracts Iranian visitors to the holy shrines, on a daily basis. Mr.Tariq Kutaifa al-Khikani told IraqiNews.com that “tourism has declined during the last two weeks”, pointing out that “most of the visitors are of Iranian nationality”. According to official statements, more than 5000 visitors are pouring into the city per day. He called for regulations to be made, noting that the deals should be made in the dollar currency, instead of the Iranian, and to cancel additional taxes to encourage tourism in the province.
