KARBALA / IraqiNews.com: Iraq ’s Finance Ministry has allocated 5 billion Iraqi dinars to compensate citizens of southwestern Iraq ’s Karbala Province , whose houses were wrecked due to recent rain and dust storms, and the maintenance of its electric network in the city. “Rains and storms that struck Karbala Province last Wednesday and Thursday, had caused huge material losses, including the wreckage of 20 houses and the downfall of 250 electric power towers,” Mohammed Hamid al-Moussawi told IraqiNews.com news agency. He said that Karbala ’s local government had strived to help the harmed people, especially the families, carrying out contacts with the Central Government and the Finance Ministry, adding that the Finance Ministry “has agreed to allocate 5 billion dinars, to be distributed on the harmed people and to amend the electric power towers.” Moussawi pointed out to the existence of “the Human Rights and Social Protection Committees, along with the related departments that had been counting the houses that were wrecked by the storms, in order to build new houses for them.” “The local government shall allocate special patches of land for the harmed families, each of whom is expected to get 20 million dinars by the local government, official departments and the holy shrines,” he concluded.
