BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A number of Iraqi journalists have reached a conclusion that Iraq “is the most dangerous areas for reporting in the whole world, demanding the Iraqi authorities to secure the rights of journalists and their protection.” “Iraqi journalists have worked in the most dangerous period that took place in Iraq, and continued their defense for the word-of-right inside the country and abroad, granting huge sacrifices to concrete the concepts of freedom and democracy,” the Chairman of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, Moayad al-Lamy told IraqiNews.com news agency on Tuesday. Lamy said “that is why we salute Iraqi journalists and the families of the martyrs of journalism, confirming that we shall never forget them, despite the delay of the promulgation of the Iraqi Journalists Protection Law, feeling unhappy for those who stand behind the delay of the promulgation of the Journalists Protection Law.” Lamy’s statement was issued on the occasion International Day Day for Freedom of Press, that took place on Tuesday, May 3 rd , during which the evaluation of the freedom of press and to remind different governments to respect their commitments to support the basic rights of journalists amid the violations taking place against reporters in the whole world.
