Iraqi Prof. Hashim Hassan says court case against him continued
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The special court, scheduled to try the Dean of Baghdad University’s Media Collage, Prof. Dr. Hashim Hassan, has adjourned its session on Thursday, demanding some documents to resume his trial on 4/6/2011, whilst Dr. Hassan said that the case against him continued. “The 2 nd session of the case, raised against me by the High Independent Elections Commission, took place today (Thursday),” Dr. Hassan told IraqiNews.com news agency. Dr. Hassan said that his Lawyer, Ni’ama al-Rube’i had “defended him, saying that the case was related to the freedom of opinion and expression, and then the Judge decided to adjourn the case, demanding to bring the tape-recording of the trial of Legislature Hanan al-Fatlawy at the Iraqi Parliament, to be discussed with Dr. Hassan’s article in al-Mashriq newspaper. Noteworthy is that the Chairman of the High Independent Elections Commission, Faraj al-Haidary, had raised a court case against Dr. Hashim Hassan, due to his publication of an article, in which he highly assessed Fatlawi’s questioning of the High Independent Elections Commission in the Iraqi Parliament.
