Law on Protection of Journalists raised to Parliament

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com – The draft-law on the Protection of Iraqi Journalists was raised to the Parliament for its discussion next week, the Parliament’s Culture & Media Committee Member, Ali al-Shilah said on Wednesday.   “The month of April is expected to witness the promulgation of the law on the Protection of Iraqi Journalists,” Shilah told IraqiNews.com news agency.   He stressed that the said draft-law would be raised to the Parliament’s Speaker for its first reading during the Parliament’s session next week, following the Committee’s invitation of a number of specialists to study the law, both legally and vocationally.   “The Iraqi Journalists Syndicate shall strive to get the necessary adjustments on the said draft-law, before its 2 nd reading by the Parliament,” Shilah said, reiterating that “April next would be the month that shall witness the promulgation of the Iraqi Journalists Protection Law.” ST / SKH
