Lightning kills man in Wassit

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: A local resident in eastern Wassit was killed after being struck by lightning in the province, a medic at the al-Kut morgue said. “The Kut-based al-Zahraa Hospital morgue received the body of a man who had been struck by lightning in the area of al-Jazira, Badra district, (90 km) east of Kut,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. Wassit has been struck by torrential rains and thunderstorms that totally paralyzed traffic and caused high rain water levels to submerge the main streets and branch roads. Kut, the capital city of the province of Wassit, lies 180 km southeast of Baghdad.  AmR (TP)/SR 469
