Missan Christians hold mass over church attack victims
MISSAN / IraqiNews.com: The Christians of Missan province on Saturday held a mass over the victims of the attack on the Sayedat al-Najah (Our Lady of Salvation) Church in the presence of a number of Muslims, Sabian Mandaeans and local officials in the province, according to the representative of the Christian community in Missan. “The Umm al-Ahzan (Mother of Griefs) Church hall in al-Amara city hosted today (Nov. 6) a funerary mass over the victims of the Baghdad’s Sayedat al-Najah Church attack,” Jalal Danial Toma told IraqiNews.com news agency. Baghdad on Sunday has witnessed an attack on Sayedat al-Najah Church, where 58 people, including five of the assailants and seven policemen, were killed while 75 others, including 15 army and police personnel, were wounded. Umm al-Ahzan Church is one of the oldest Chaldean Catholic churches in the southern area. Established in 1880 in the area of al-Mahmoudiya in al-Amara city, the church stands over area of 1600 square meters. Amara, the capital city of Missan province, lies 390 km south of Baghdad.
