Missan local council chief reveals violations in Amara jail

MISSAN / IraqiNews.com: The Missan Provincial Council chief on Friday revealed “serious violations” of human rights inside al-Amara central prison. “Visiting the Amara central prison, I have found out about serious and outrageous human rights violations. Apparently, the central government is failing to cooperate on improving prison conditions despite the numerous appeals by the local administration,” Abdulhussein al-Saadi told IraqiNews.com news agency. “There has to be serious follow-up on the part of government and civil society organizations concerned with human rights to solve problems inside prisons and end torture practiced against some inmates there,” said Saadi.
