Muqdadiya police admit nearly half prisoners on strike
DIALA / IraqiNews.com: Some 160 out of a total 350 prisoners in al-Muqdadiya district went on strike on Saturday until their cases are settled at the anti-terror court, according to the Muqdadiya police director. “The prisoners went on strike due to the delay in referring their cases to the anti-terror court in Baaquba,” Brig. Mohammed al-Temimi told IraqiNews.com news agency. However, Temimi discredited reports that the prisoners are on strike over mistreatment. “All prisoners in al-Muqdadiya are treated very well as there are human rights commissions following up the inmates’ conditions,” he said. Baaquba, the capital city of the volatile province of Diala, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad. AmR (P) 2
