New law for Higher Education Ministry in process

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research plans to introduce a new law on the education philosophy. He intends to have it replace the present law, which dates back to 1988, in order to ensure the new law conforms to the present era and scientific developments, the ministry stated.  Advisor Salah Al-Nuaimi, in a statement, as received by IraqiNews.com, said that the draft law has been completed before it will be sent to the legal authorities of the state.  He added that the law “took into consideration the present higher education philosophy towards more independence of the Iraqi universities, based on the university values that depends on the Iraqi  history and civilization, with special emphasis on scientific development and human rights.”  RM (TP)/SR  407
