Planning minister confirms census in October

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s census will be conducted next October, the planning minister said on Wednesday. Speaking at a press conference in Baghdad, Ali Baban said “the planning ministry will hold the population census throughout Iraq next October after the improvement of the security situation.” “The census will include also the Kurdistan’s provinces,” he added, noting that the census helps in holding elections and the governmental planning. The last population census held in Iraq in 1997 but without Kurdish provinces of Arbil, Duhuk and Sulaimaniya. SH (P) 1
