Shepherdess killed in landmine blast near Nasseriya
THI-QAR / IraqiNews.com: A young shepherdess was killed by in a landmine explosion south of the city of al-Nasseriya on Monday, according to the Thi-Qar police department in a statement. “A 22-year-old shepherdess was herding in the area of Umm Eneidj, (50 km) south of Nasseriya, when a landmine, probably left by the former Iraqi army, went off, killing her instantly,” read the statement as received by IraqiNews.com news agency. Meanwhile, bomb squad personnel in the area of al-Rifai’e, (90 km) north of Nasseriya, defused a stun grenade weighing 250 grams that had been planted near the house of a local resident.
