South Iraq Wassit’s Governor dismissed by Province’s Council:
WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: Southern Iraq Wassit Province‘s Governor, Latif Hamad al-Turfa, has been dismissed from his post by a majority vote by the Province’s Council on Wednesday, charging him with having failed to carry out his responsibility in the year 2010. “Wassit Province‘s Council has taken a majority decision to dismiss Governor Latif Hamad al-Turfa from his post, due to the Council’s dissatisfaction for his poor performance in 2010 and failure to cooperate with the Council, as well as bad administration,” the Council’s decision said. The decision, IraqiNews.com’s correspondent pointed out “had scored 24 out of 28 votes, with 4 Council members, who have reserved their voting on the decision.” Kut, the capital of Wassit Province, is 180 kms to the southeast of Baghdad.
