Wassits Police detains gang with stolen ornaments
WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: A gang of robbers has been detained by southern Iraq ’s Wassit Province ’s police on Saturday, with a quantity of golden ornaments and jewels in their possession, Wassit’s Police Commander reported. “Our Police have managed to detain a 3-man gang of robbers, with a quantity of jewels and golden ornaments in their possession, estimated to weigh 2 kgs,” Maj-General Hussein Abdul-Hadi told IraqiNews.com news agency. He said that “preliminary investigations have proved that the gang had stolen a goldsmith’s shop in western Kut’s al-Jihad district, stealing a large quantity of golden ornaments, weighing more than 2 kgs.” “The gang’s members have confessed with having carried out armed robbery attacks on a number of houses and stealing quantities of golden ornaments,” he added.
