Works commence on bridge linking Kirkuk to Mosul

KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: Works started on a bridge a linking Kirkuk to Mosul at a total cost of 6 billion Iraqi dinars as part the Provincial Development Budget (PDB) for the year 2010, a local official in Kirkuk said. “Sadr al-al-Nahr bridge will link Mosul to Kirkuk in the district of al-Huweija, (65 km) southwest of Kirkuk and would be the longest in the province,” senior engineer Qassem Hamza al-Bayyati, the director of the Kirkuk Roads & Bridges Department, told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The bridge is 450 meters long and 12 meters wide,” he added. The oil-rich Kirkuk, a city of mixed Arab, Kurdish and Turkmen population, lies 250 km northeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. AmR (P) 1
